Hotels in Buxton
Hello,
I am a new member and have found a connection with Buxton while researching my late mother's family history. As a young woman in the late 1920's she worked as a chambermaid in a number of hotels in your area and she lived-in at a large hotel in Buxton. I believed that it was called the Queen's Hotel but I have been unable to find any record of this. I don't think that it was The Old Hall Hotel but I remember that she had very fond memories of walking in the Pavillion Gardens. If anyone has any record of the Hotels in Buxton in the 1920's I would be most grateful. This has been made more difficult as she tragically died as a young woman when I was 17.

Re: Buxton Hotels
Hi Howard.
You maybe interested in this link if you haven't already got it
There's a number of hotels on the images but none with queens Hotel in the 1920's. I myself am an ex Buton girl
and there is alot of small hotels on Broad Walk which is directly opposite the Pavillion Gardens, I don't know the dates
of these hotels when they were built though.
Good Luck in your research I am also doing my family history.

The Queen's Hotel, Buxton
Hi Howard,
I have just asked my father (who grew up in Chelmorten and Buxton) and he said the Queen's Hotel was at the bottom of Holker Road in Buxton.
Hope this helps.
